Closing the Community Forums

We have made the difficult decision to retire the Community Forum on July 21, 2022.

Atlas Obscura has been a community-driven project from the very beginning, and this growth is in no small part due to your contributions. So first and foremost, we want to thank each and every one of you! We have a lot of exciting new plans that will continue to grow and expand Atlas Obscura for anyone seeking the world’s hidden wonders. As we move forward with these plans, we’ve also been taking a close look at how we communicate with everyone who reads and contributes to Atlas Obscura. This has led us to the difficult decision to retire the Community Forum on July 21, 2022.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has joined the conversation here over the last few years, sharing everything from travel tips and favorite foods. We’re rolling out a few new tools that will help us communicate more effectively with the community.

  • Feedback: If you have a great idea for something that could improve the experience on the site, you can now direct it toAtlas Obscura’s feedback board. This will be a collaborative space where you can share ideas with AO’s product team, see what other members of the community have suggested, and vote on which features are most important to your experience of Atlas Obscura.
  • Product Blog: We havelaunched a new blogthat will feature monthly updates about what’s happening behind the scenes at Atlas Obscura. This will include updates on site fixes and new features from the Engineering team, as well as information about how the Atlas is growing from the Places team.

And of course we hope that you’ll continue to share amazing places with us through submissions, and join the conversation on social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Yours in Wonder,

The Atlas Obscura Team
